Optimization means six-figure savings.Data centers account for more than 3 percent of the world's total electricity consumption, and this figure is expected to rise to 13 percent by 2030. A significant portion of this energy is used for cooling, so optimizing this can result in considerable energy savings.More efficient operation, less maintenance
This is the path chosen by Hrvatski Telekom (HT), Croatia's leading telecommunications company, which has introduced Siemens technology for cooling its data center. Thanks to an intelligent sensor system and AI-supported cooling management, the telecom provider's largest data center in Zagreb now operates in a more climate-friendly manner, resulting in six-figure euro savings for the company.
The new system uses a number of devices, including wireless sensor and control modules, to continuously monitor the temperature of server cabinets and any changes therein. It analyzes this real-time data using artificial intelligence and automatically controls the fans responsible for cooling, dynamically adjusting to current needs.
Through continuous optimization and machine learning, up to 99 percent of hotspots in data centers can be permanently eliminated. The solution has not only reduced the operating time of cooling equipment, but also lowered maintenance costs: a significant portion of heat-related failures and unplanned downtime can now be avoided by identifying malfunctioning components and supporting predictive maintenance.Bring on the "factory-smart" data centers
The same White Space Cooling Optimization technology is used in the 14,500-square-meter Greenergy Data Centers near Tallinn, which opened a few years ago and is considered the largest and most energy-efficient facility of its kind in the Baltics.
This data and AI-driven operation is also the basis for the modular, plug-and-play data center, which is a fully prefabricated, configurable system. It comes with integrated, intelligent, and environmentally friendly energy management, as indicated by Siemens, German companies Cadolto Datacenter GmbH, and Legrand Data Center Solutions.
In addition, Siemens offers a number of data center solutions.
