Siemens is offering a new NIS2-compliant service.
Siemens’ new service is designed to help enhance the cybersecurity resilience of energy providers, operators in energy-intensive industries, and critical infrastructure—such as data centers and airports.
The solution addresses the convergence of enterprise information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT), as well as the need to manage a growing number of security alerts—often when there is a lack of staff with the necessary expertise available around the clock.
The service provides protection through continuous, 24/7 monitoring, while analyzing potential incidents and recommending specific measures to mitigate risks and resolve issues. As a result, companies can respond to cyberattacks up to 90 percent faster.
Security data collected from IT and OT systems is managed by the central Siemens Security Operations Center (SOC). This is where events are analyzed, false alarms are filtered out, and critical incidents are handled, while detection rules are continuously updated in response to new threats.
With this predictable and scalable, NIS2-compliant service model, operators of critical infrastructure can focus on their core business. Compared to setting up a similar in-house operational security center, they can ensure their protection with capital costs that are up to 80 percent lower, and operating costs that can be reduced by as much as half.
The first reference customer for the new MDR service is Hertener Stadtwerke, a public utility provider in Germany, which is using this technology to protect its operational systems.
