  • Industry- and ABET-recognized “Expedite – Skills for Industry” microcredential translates military skills into civilian industry jobs critical to national competitiveness
  • Free access for up to 5,000 U.S. service members and veterans creates direct pipeline into advanced manufacturing, digital engineering, and automation careers

Siemens today announced Expedite for Vets, a new U.S. workforce development initiative designed to help active-duty military personnel and veterans translate their skills into civilian careers in advanced manufacturing, digital engineering, automation and infrastructure. Siemens will provide free access for up to 5,000 U.S. service members and veterans to its industry-aligned Expedite – Skills for Industry , creating a direct pathway from military service to in-demand technical roles across American industry.

Veterans and service members bring leadership, discipline and deep technical experience to the workforce but often face challenges translating those capabilities into credentials recognized by civilian employers. Siemens’ microcredential program bridges that gap through free, ABET-recognized, early-career engineering credentials focused on real-world industrial applications rather than theory alone. Unlike traditional degree programs, the microcredential is designed to be completed online in weeks or months, providing veterans with a faster, more flexible route into the industrial workforce while aligning with the military’s culture of continuous learning.

“We understand the persistent skills gaps amid rising demand for AI-enabled production, digitalization and modern infrastructure that our customers face. Siemens is positioning veterans at the center of the solution, said Ann Fairchild, President and CEO, Siemens USA. “This initiativeis more than a training program, it’s a veteran-centered workforce pipeline connecting credentialed talent directly to Siemens and its customer ecosystem for these high-demand careers, all while supporting national security objectives and strengthening U.S. manufacturing communities Through initiatives like this – and our broader commitment to help train 200,000 electricians and manufacturing experts by 2030 – Siemens is working to expand opportunity for workers while helping industry address critical workforce needs.”

Siemens has partnered with Vets2PM, a Department of Defense SkillBridge Program provider and upskill training partner, to reach a talent pool of thousands of experienced veterans and transitioning service members.

“Veterans and transitioning service members bring technical experience, adaptability, discipline, and mission focus – qualities that are increasingly important in today’s industrial workforce,” said Cathy Miclat, Director of Career Services at Vets2PM. “Expedite for Vets reflects Siemens’ commitment to creating faster, more flexible pathways into high-demand technical careers while helping strengthen the talent pipeline powering America’s reindustrialization.” Through initiatives like this – and our broader commitment to help train 200,000 electricians and manufacturing experts by 2030 – Siemens is working to expand opportunity for workers while helping industry address critical workforce needs.

Expedite for Vets builds on Siemens’ long-standing commitment to the military community while advancing a broader national priority of strengthening America’s industrial workforce and economic resilience. The initiative combines digital coursework, mentorship and a pre-apprenticeship model aligned to advanced manufacturing and digitalization challenges. By pairing skills-based hiring with verified, industry aligned credentials, Siemens is setting a new standard for how employers recognize, recruit, and retain veteran talent in the modern industrial economy.

“Digital transformation demands new skill sets to support the industries we operate in, and we are accelerating the digital mindset through industry recognized microcredentials like Expedite – Skills for Industry,” said Del Costy, President and Managing Director, Americas Siemens Digital Industries Software. “I’m extremely excited about the Expedite for Vets initiative and helping transition our Veterans into an industry ready talent pool that not only Siemens, but our customers will be able to take advantage of.”

Working alongside industry partners, government agencies, and veteran organizations, Siemens aims to scale the impact beyond its own hiring needs. With this program, Siemens is helping manufacturers, infrastructure providers and technology companies nationwide access highly skilled, mission-driven talent.
