Siemens Indonesia donates for tsunami and earthquake victims in Central Sulawesi

Siemens Indonesia and its employees have demonstrated their profound concern for the victims of the tsunami and earthquake in Central Sulawesi province of Indonesia. The company's fundraising campaign which was participate by the employees and matched by the company collected more than IDR 863 million in monetary donations to support those affected by the earthquake and its aftermath through the Indonesian Red Cross.

"We extend our deepest sympathy to the victims of Central Sulawesi tsunami and earthquake. At Siemens Indonesia, our employees have shown profound solidarity by generously taking part in the company matching donation appeal to ease the sufferings of the people in Central Sulawesi," said Prakash Chandran, President Director and CEO, PT Siemens Indonesia.

The deadly magnitude-7.4 earthquake which was followed by a tsunami on September 28, 2018 that struck Central Sulawesi have killed at least 2,100 people, injuring more than 10,000 others and forcing more than 87,000 people to flee their homes and seek safety.

"We appreciate the generous contribution made by Siemens organization to the Indonesian Red Cross to ease the suffering of the victims in Central Sulawesi. The donation will be channeled to help people in the affected areas with first-aid and medical treatments, shelters, clean water, and hygiene kits," stated the Executive Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross, Prof. DR. Ir. Ginandjar Kartasasmita.

Throughout its operations around the world, Siemens is committed to its belief in giving back to the community as part of its corporate social responsibility. Siemens Indonesia and its employees have also provided equipment and monetary help to victims of the Aceh tsunami in 2004, Jogjakarta earthquakes in 2006, Padang earthquake in 2009, Mentawai tsunami and Mount Merapi eruption in 2010, and Lombok earthquake in 2018.
