Siemens Indonesia and Siemens Healthineers Indonesia donated personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical equipment for COVID-19 pandemic relief efforts in Indonesia on May 26th, 2020. The IDR 1 billion worth donation was distributed to 61 referral hospitals for COVID-19 in Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and South Sulawesi. The donation is conducted under the supervision of the COVID-19 Disease Response Acceleration Task Force (BNPB).
The scarcity of PPE is a problem faced by healthcare workers as the frontline in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in many hospitals. In response to this, the company donated more than 7,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) items for medical workforce to help ensure their protection against the virus as they work to protect others. Among the much-needed personal protective equipment were N95 masks, hazmat suits, anti-fogging goggles, etc.
Siemens Indonesia also donated the lifesaving ventilator machine to the Indonesia COVID-19 Emergency Hospital at Jakarta. The unit was handed over to the state-owned power company PT PLN (Persero)’s COVID-19 Crisis Management Team in response to their humanitarian appeal. The coronavirus attacks people’s lungs, in some cases compromising their ability to breathe. Ventilators are a crucial tool to keep these patients alive.
