Siemens has taken its process automation portfolio and expertise on the road with the Process Automation Innovation Tour, which launched recently in Houston, Texas. The traveling tour is designed to bring the latest innovations in automation, instrumentation, networking, and cybersecurity right to the doorstep of the process industries.Reducing production costs, improving efficiency, and leveraging the benefits of digitalization were key points of interest among the regionally based attendees representing the oil and gas and chemical industries. Participants spent two days learning from technical experts through a customizable mix of breakout sessions divided into three themed tracks: Industry 4.0, Process Applications, and Technology Innovations. Workshop topics ranged widely – from digital transformation and control system simulation to meeting the newest regulatory requirements and selecting the right field devices for specific applications – but all were focused on providing users with up-to-the-minute knowledge, use cases, and tools to stay competitive and perform their jobs more effectively. The event also included opportunities to interact directly with the breadth of technologies being discussed. The newly remodeled Siemens Mobile Showcase was parked on-site and hosted several classes along with live, hands-on demonstrations of instruments, analyzers, communication components, and control system solutions. During breaks, customers were also invited to visit the Innovation Café, where interconnected product walls illustrated the concept of digitalization from the control room down to the field. An evening social gathering at Karbach Brewing Company, which included a behind-the-scenes tour of the brewing facilities, gave attendees additional time to network.“The PA Innovation Tour was a great opportunity to catch up on many of the latest developments in process automation technology, as well as to connect with Siemens experts and industry peers,” said Brian Clemons, Co-Chair of the Siemens User Advisory Board and Process Automation Manager for Dow Inc.“This unique series of events is an exciting new way to bring our deep process industry expertise to the places where users live and work, to resolve today’s problems by offering actionable insights in an environment that encourages the sharing of ideas and best practices,” said Noelle Weathersby, Marketing Director for Siemens Process Automation and Instrumentation.Six additional tour stops around the country are planned in 2020 and 2021, including Charleston, SC; Chattanooga, TN; Park City, UT; St. Louis, MO; Philadelphia, PA; and Chicago, IL.
