Siemens Indonesia donates for earthquake victims in Lombok

Siemens Indonesia and its employees have demonstrated their profound concern for the victims of the earthquake in Lombok island, West Nusa Tenggara Province of Indonesia. The company’s fundraising campaign which was participated by the employees and matched by the company collected more than IDR 230 million in monetary donations to support those affected by the earthquake and its aftermath through the Indonesian Red Cross.

“We extend our deepest sympathy to the victims of Lombok earthquake. At Siemens Indonesia, our employees have shown profound solidarity by generously taking part in the donation appeal to ease the sufferings of the people in Lombok,” said Prakash Chandran, President Director and CEO, PT Siemens Indonesia.

The deadly magnitude-6.9 earthquake which was followed by strong aftershocks at the end of July and early August this year that struck the island of Lombok have killed at least 430 people, injuring more than 1,300 others and forcing more than 200,000 people to flee their homes and seek safety.

"We thank Siemens Indonesia for their support to ease the suffering of the victims in Lombok with their generous donation to the Indonesian Red Cross. The donation is being utilized to help people in the affected areas with first-aid, shelter materials, blankets, clean drinking water, and hygiene kits," stated the Secretary General of the Indonesian Red Cross dr. Ritola Tasmaya, MPH.

Throughout its operations around the world, Siemens is committed to its belief in giving back to the community as part of its corporate social responsibility. Siemens Indonesia and its employees have also provided equipment and monetary help to victims of the Aceh tsunami in 2004, Jogjakarta earthquakes in 2006, Padang earthquake in 2009, and Mentawai tsunami and Mount Merapi eruption in 2010.
