Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk. (PT SMART Tbk.)

Siemens Indonesia proudly announces a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk. (PT SMART Tbk.), a company that was founded in 1962 and that's now one of the world's leading seed-to-shelf agribusinesses.

This MoU marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration aimed at simplifying, accelerating, and scaling PT SMART Tbk. 's digital transformation, resulting in quality and competitive products. The increased production of palm-based products and other vegetable oil products is expected to support the Indonesian government's food and energy self-sufficiency target in the next four to five years.

PT SMART Tbk., also known as SMART, is a subsidiary of Golden Agri Resources (GAR), operating under the Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food brand in Indonesia. SMART offers a wide range of palm-based products and other vegetable oil products, including oleochemicals, specialty fats, biodiesel, and refined edible oils for both businesses and consumers.

"As a technology partner for digital transformation, Siemens believes that digital transformation will allow businesses to offer customized consumer experiences. We support PT SMART Tbk. to accelerate digital readiness in their manufacturing process and to enable them to fully utilize the potential of Industry 4.0,"

Surya Fitri, President Director and CEO of PT Siemens Indonesia

The key areas of collaboration outlined in the agreement include:

  • Exchange of data and business insights to steer a digital business transformation.
  • Provide consulting and guidance that would define a comprehensive and actionable digital transformation roadmap.
  • Exploring strategic collaborations in the implementation of projects.

Furthermore, PT SMART Tbk. employees will have the opportunity to upskill and embrace digital change at any point in their company's growth process with the SITRAIN training program developed by Siemens. Overall, the scheme aims to increase the technical skills base of PT SMART Tbk's engineers and technicians.

Commenting on the partnership, Herriadie Mochtar, Head of Engineering and Project Management, PT SMART Tbk. said, "Refinement of this roadmap is a major first step in the company’s transformation journey. The roadmap is a complete plan encompassing everything from pilot initiation to end goal development, in phases and stages, with regular review and scale-up milestones."

"By working together under this transformative MoU, PT Siemens Indonesia will help us increase competitiveness and market share while contributing to Indonesia's food resilience and sustainability goals. This partnership aligns with company ambitions to positively impact society and promote responsible business practices."
