Siemens Switchgear Factory celebrates 50 years and gains National Vital Object (OBVITNAS) status

Siemens Indonesia proudly celebrates the 50th anniversary of its Switchgear Factory in Jakarta—a significant milestone in the company’s long-standing contribution to electrification and infrastructure development in the country. Since its establishment in 1975, the factory has served as a key manufacturing hub for low-and medium-voltage switchgear, supporting both Indonesia’s industrial and energy sectors as well as exports to international markets.

This year also marks 170 years of Siemens’ presence in Indonesia, a journey that began in 1855 with the installation of the company’s first product in the country—the Pointer Telegraph—signifying the start of a long legacy of technological advancement.

In May 2025, the Switchgear Factory was officially designated as a National Vital Object (Objek Vital Nasional/OBVITNAS) in the Industrial Sector by the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia. This recognition highlights Siemens’ strategic role in supporting the resilience and continuity of the nation’s energy infrastructure.

Inauguration of Siemens Xperience Center and Siemens Indonesia Call Center

The inauguration of the Siemens Xperience Center in Jakarta reaffirms Siemens’ strong commitment to supporting Indonesia’s digital transformation. This immersive innovation hub showcases cutting-edge technologies in electrification, automation, and digitalization. More than just a technology showcase, the center is designed as a collaborative space that also serves as a training hub—enabling customers and partners to explore solutions in the energy, industrial, and infrastructure sectors that can accelerate their journey toward sustainable transformation.

In addition, Siemens has launched the Siemens Indonesia Call Center, providing direct access to expert support and services for professionals across the country. This initiative further enhances customer experience and operational efficiency.

Local partnerships to boost Indonesia’s digital and energy transformation

PT Siemens Indonesia has signed two strategic Memorandums of Understanding with PLN Electricity Services and with PT Surya Energi Indotama to drive innovation and sustainability across Indonesia’s energy and building sectors. These three partnerships focus on advancing digital transformation, energy efficiency, and smart technologies through initiatives such as technical training, joint research, AI integration, and sustainable infrastructure development. Collectively, the collaborations aim to strengthen local capabilities, accelerate decarbonization, and support Indonesia’s transition toward smarter, efficient, and low-carbon future.

Siemens has signed a of Memorandums of Understanding with key stakeholders, including the Directorate of Chemurgy, Oleochemical, and Feed Industries of the Ministry of Industry, and the Indonesian Industrial Digital Transformation Council (WANTRII). These agreements aim to accelerate digital transformation and provide technical guidance in the palm oil and food & beverage industries, supporting innovation, efficiency, and sustainable industrial development.

As part of a strategic collaboration, Siemens is providing its advanced PSS®SINCAL power system simulation software and high-performance computers to Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Pertamina, and Universitas Sriwijaya. The software will be integrated into electrical engineering curricula, supported by installation and training from Siemens. This initiative aims to equip students with practical, industry-relevant skills and contribute to the development of a more resilient and sustainable energy infrastructure in Indonesia.
