Siemens has unveiled a new-generation, entry-level automation controller. The LOGO! controller, revamped after 11 years, promises simple implementation of smaller automation projects—such as stairwell lighting automation, low-voltage electrical switching automation, booster pump control, or machine manufacturing.
“What could previously be achieved with simple logic functions now requires precise data processing, intuitive operating concepts, and comprehensive security. Available on the domestic market starting in April, LOGO! 9 combines the computing power and security standards of larger systems with the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of compact logic modules,” – emphasized Zsolt Barabás, an expert at Siemens Zrt.
Enhanced capabilities for everyday use
LOGO! 9 offers twice the number of function blocks, up to 800, so in many cases there is no need for additional control devices. The previous push-button design has been replaced by a touchscreen color display, which is now available in a larger size for users. The range of secondary (TDE) displays has also been updated and is now available in a 4.3-inch size, allowing LOGO! data to be displayed on the front panel of the control cabinet.
The new device’s software can be loaded from a USB flash drive as a Plug & Play solution and is fully compatible with previous projects and generations. Together with the integrated LOGO! Web Editor simulation, it is a cross-platform tool that now supports macOS and Linux systems in addition to Windows. The new user management system ensures access control through four user roles.
LOGO! 9 carries the Siemens EcoTech label, meaning it meets the technology company’s highest sustainability standards. Secure Boot and secure LOGO! communication provide protection against unwanted manipulation and unauthorized access. Firmware updates via LSC (LOGO! Soft Comfort) and factory reset with IP address retention ensure safe and efficient operation throughout the entire lifecycle.
