Siemens announced that JSW Greentech Limited has selected Siemens Xcelerator software to establish an integrated digital foundation for the development of commercial electric vehicles. The initiative will support JSW Greentech as it builds capabilities for electric buses, trucks and other sustainable mobility solutions under the brand AMPSTAR through its R&D center in Pune and its state of the art greenfield manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, India.
JSW Greentech is undertaking a digital transformation program designed to connect engineering, product development and manufacturing processes through a unified product lifecycle management (PLM) strategy. The company aims to improve collaboration across teams, enhance engineering quality, reduce development cycle times and accelerate the delivery of new electric vehicles to the Indian market.
"The future of commercial electric mobility will be shaped by how effectively we integrate technology across the value chain. By building a digitally connected enterprise from the outset, JSW Greentech is creating a foundation for smarter, more efficient and scalable electric vehicle manufacturing under the brand AMPSTAR. Our collaboration for Product Lifestyle Management (PLM) with Siemens will enhance operational efficiency and accelerate the development of next-generation electric commercial vehicles, reinforcing our commitment to a future-ready mobility ecosystem in India.” said Sumit Mittal - CEO, JSW Greentech Limited.
JSW Greentech’s implementation includes Teamcenter® software for product lifecycle management and Mendix™ software to support supplier and business process collaboration. Together, these technologies will help create a connected digital thread across product development while supporting greater visibility and traceability throughout the organization and the supply chain.
Siemens’ Teamcenter will provide the digital thread backbone, connecting sources of product and engineering information, supporting bill of materials (BOMs) and product structures, and delivering capabilities for requirements management, program planning, change management and collaboration across mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines. Another key element of the initiative is integration between Teamcenter and the company's ERP system, helping synchronize engineering and business data across the organization while improving the flow of information between engineering and business functions. Teamcenter also supports supplier collaboration through a Mendix-based portal, extending digital processes beyond internal teams and across the broader product development and supplier ecosystem.
"Commercial EV manufacturers have a unique opportunity to establish digital transformation as a core business capability from the outset," said Mathew Thomas, vice president and managing director for India, Siemens Digital Industries Software. "By connecting engineering, product lifecycle management and collaboration across the enterprise, JSW Greentech is creating a scalable digital foundation that can help accelerate innovation and support the efficient development of next-generation commercial electric vehicles."
