Siemens pushes smart manufacturing and labor upskilling in the Philippines

13 Mart 2024
Manila, Philippines

Siemens underscored its commitment to support smart manufacturing and upskilling and reskilling of the labor workforce in the Philippines. During the 70th year celebration of the diplomatic ties between Germany and the Philippines last March 12, 2024 in Berlin, Dr. Roland Busch, President and CEO of Siemens AG, highlighted the importance of the country’s labor market in a speech in front of the Philippine delegation led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

“In the labor market, we can advance collaboration in upskilling the people of the Philippines in the digital area. With good training, the Philippines’ young generation, will be your country’s greatest asset. Upskilling and reskilling help transition workers for new jobs”, said Busch.

Last January 2024, Siemens, Inc., the regional company of Siemens AG in the Philippines, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority aimed at exploring areas for collaboration and organizing technology workshops for TESDA.

“Promoting smart manufacturing and technical upskilling in the Philippines are key advocacies of Siemens in the Philippines, particularly in the digital transformation of the industrial sector. Certainly, President Marcos’ historic meeting with Dr. Busch strengthens the collaboration of the Philippine government and Siemens in these interrelated areas”, said Jose Marie Enrico Buergo, President and CEO of Siemens, Inc.

After the Philippine-German Business Forum, which was attended by various business and government leaders from both countries, Dr. Busch had the opportunity of having a one-on-one meeting with President Marcos, to discuss the potential areas of collaboration of Siemens and the Philippines in the areas of smart manufacturing, renewable energy, and transport.

Siemens, Inc. was established in 1992 in the Philippines as a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens AG, the industrial automation and infrastructure company headquartered in Munich, Germany. It is a technology partner in manufacturing, infrastructure, and transportation.
